I would love some suggestions on making schedules. I have attempted a few times and then it kind of got pushed aside because we are very busy people. We know what we have, but don't really write it down. Sometimes things can get a bit ziggy zaggy! Maybe something in front of our faces ahead of time will make for better planning.

With me, I have a calander in a 8 x 5 notebook. I also keep my grocery list there and other lists. When I know something is coming up that needs my attention I write it down on the calander. I am not a really busy person outside of my home, I don't leave my home but about once a month to go to the store, my work is all focused at home and my schedule is pretty well fixed.
Up in the morning to get the fire in the wood stove going. Milk the goats at 8:30 Breakfast 9:30 etc...
Making a list and sticking to it seems to be the most important part of getting started at just about anything. Grocery shopping to outside appointments, and it really does simplify your life because you don't have to keep everything all stored in your head. You write it down and then you can quite worring about it, of course you have to remember where you write it, hence a notebook, and you have to remember to look at your notebook and not lose it.

"Look at it and don't lose it." You hit the nail on the head! My work is focused around the home and family, but in a different means because we are in ministry and I do a lot of jobs here and there in which I can still be here with my children and husband. For example...Youth ministry, hubby and I partner in that, keeps me running back and forth to and from the church a lot. The girls go with me, and us, everywhere. Teaching music, I can normally take them with me. If not, I schedule it at a time that daddy dearest is with them. Writing for the paper requires me doing an interview of course, so sometimes I take them with me, and others I do as stated before. It depends on the setting I am going into. So even though we aren't 'here' ALL the time, we are always together. For the times we are here I desire to have it more organized, so things can be simplified. Thank you for the tips! Sounds like it works.

In our family we don't have a strict schedule, but a standard routine. This works really well. Chores are done at the same time of the day. Or in the same order... Wake Up, Dress Kids, Make Breakfast, Make Lunches, Send Kids to School, Load Washer, Make Bed, Straighten House, Load Dryer and Washer, Nurse Baby, Fold Clothes, Naptimes, etc. With a small baby it can be difficult to stick to a strict schedule. I suppose it'll be easier once the little ones aren't so little anymore. I do prefer being scheduled and organized to chaos. I accomplish more and in a timely manner.

It is harder with a little one.
I'll get there, just not yet. LOL. All things work together for good to them that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. I always praise the Lord for His words. It keeps me going when I feel pulled in many different directions. His truth always shines through!

If I can get organized ANYONE can!! Of course the most difficult part is getting started and becoming a "creature of habit" I am a list person......I write everything down. Each morning after I have my quiet time with God, I open the daily list notebook I keep in my devotional basket. I write everything that 1. must be done 2. needs to be done 3. would like to do. It takes time and sometimes doing this when you don't feel like doing it! Its a training thing....I had to train myself to get up an hour earlier than the children to have a devotional life. When I give God my first fruits, and give Him control of my day then things go SO much better. Well another word I had to learn was "prioritize" Sometimes I have to let things go and not worry about them. Our house just can't run unless we are organized and EVERYone has a role in that. Of course it was not always so When the girls were babies, when my dh worked nights Mia

Yes! It's like tithing isn't it?! Giving God our first fruits!
You all are such an encouragement! Thank you!
I know I'll get there on the schedule and routine part! Now we are going to be moving (mere minutes away), so I am looking at this as an awesome opportunity to get really organized! Hallelujah!

Krystal, my prayers out to you during your move. That is really a job! I forgot to say earlier that I love my big dry erase marker board in the kitchen. I can jot things down and I see them several times a day on the board. So each time I see "need bread" or "Sara..choir practice today at 4" it sticks in my mind. Mia

Mia, that's a great idea! I will be getting one of those! I try making calendars, but I need something BIG...IN MY FACE! LOL!
You know, now that I'll be working out of the home as well as in the home I have no choice but to be organized so I can be BALANCED! This will probably be very good for me!

have you checked into managers of their homes (moth) by steve and teri maxwell? take a look at www.titus2.com . this is a great book and will help you to plan and execute a schedule. plus there's even a board for those who use her system to discuss it!
